JULY

DONNA BELL

Art on Exhibit:  July 1  -  August 2, 2010

Donna Bell, long time resident of Lakeside, Michigan and Chicago, has drawn and sculpted in the past but did not paint until 2002, when she began studying watercolor with artist Jim McComb of Union, Pier.

Her first exhibition of watercolors took place in 2005 at Lovell & Whyte in Lakeside and sold out at the opening reception. She has since garnered commissions for paintings of clients, various cats, dogs and horses.

In addition to Donna’s watercolors, this show features a sculpture of a horse composed entirely of pieces of wood from her fireplace kindling box.

Her paintings display her love of nature as well as her love for animals, both large and small.

AUGUST

WATERCOLOR IMPRESSIONS
WORKS ON EXHIBIT BY DAVID KNOEBBER

Art on Exhibit:  August 5  -  August 30, 2010

Artist Reception:  August 7, 2010

Watercolor impressions is the theme of Dave Knoebber’s tenth annual watercolor exhibit. Dave is a watercolorist, art educator and radio host. During this exhibit he will present an array of watercolor paintings depicting the impressions of his gardens and the rural setting of Harbor Country.

Dave has been painting at his studio in the New Buffalo area for the past sixteen years. His watercolors take you a little closer to the subject matter and each painting has a different approach to his traditional methods. He likes to give the viewer another look, a closer look, at the floral patterns and the colors of the natural setting.

Most of his work, when weather permits is painted on site within the many gardens that surround his studio. He exhibits his work at local businesses, from his gallery/studio and the annual one person show at the Vickers Theatre. For the past five years his work has been included during the art festival at the Schoolhouse Shops with three shows during the winter months in Naples, Florida.

Dave is the host the current radio show “Harbor Country Art Scene” broadcast on a weekly basis from WRHC 106.7FM in Three Oaks. His floral and landscape watercolors will be on exhibit the entire month of August in the Art Gallery of the Vickers Theatre.

JON HOOK, ANDREA PETERSON & KIDS

Art on Exhibit:  September 3  -  October 2, 2010

animal – vegetable – mineral  is an exhibition of work created by Andrea Peterson, Jon Hook, Ry Hook and Lu Hook. Andrea and Jon of Hook Pottery Paper with their sons live and work in rural Indiana. They draw much of their inspiration from a lifestyle of small farm living and their natural surroundings. Collecting eggs, planting beans, watching the fireflies come out at dusk, studying seedpods, and keeping bees are part of their everyday experiences that are reflected in the work.

Prints, clay sculptures, paper art, mixed media, and drawings will be shown. This is the first time they have exhibited together.

Andrea Peterson and Jon Hook co-operate Hook Pottery Paper a gallery and studios where they create paper and ceramic arts as well as teach. Both have exhibited widely, including: Scoula de Grafica, Venice, Italy, Moriki Foundation, Tokyo, Japan, Krasl Art Center, St. Joseph, MI, Pink, Oak Park, IL.
